Future thinking with ChatGPT

Recently, I have been thinking about the future of work with ChatGPT. A question I have in mind is whether Artificial Intelligence (AI) will replace our job eventually. The future of work with AI is an ever-evolving concept, and with technological advancements and societal changes, it is constantly reshaping the way we work. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated some of these changes, such as the shift towards automation, but it has also brought new challenges that require us to rethink how we approach work in the future.

ChatGPT may be coming for our jobs. Roles, such as lawyers, doctors and accountants, are most likely to be replaced by AI. It was only a few months old, but already causing waves in the business world and a peak in the hype cycle in a short period of time. Experts say ChatGPT and generative AI could threaten some jobs, particularly white-collar ones.

University of Oxford study in 2013 predict 47% of US jobs could be eliminated by AI. ChatGPT is so powerful with the potential to replace entry-level coders to do programming. It has already been used to write cover letters, children’s books and student homework essays. Some media jobs, such as content creation, technical writing and journalism are in constant threads from AI technology.

In the past, the white-collar job requires humans to analyze and interpret vast amounts of language data. Nowadays, generative AI could pick up these skills as well, not only being able to read and write, but also understanding our languages. The change is driven by the advance of AI algorithms, with large amounts of big data and the use of cloud computing technology.

Human productivity could increase significantly by using AI as an enhancing tool, as opposed to a complete replacement of human jobs. For example, AI would not be used entirely to automate the legal industry because it will still require a certain degree of human judgement. Besides, chatbots are already used to replace some companies’ customer service, but customers would still prefer a human touch and not be served by a robot.

This is a future I want to see, because ChatGPT may be able to do tasks like reporting and writing more efficiently than we as humans. People could save time and solve more interesting problems that still require human judgement.

In the past, we spend a lot of time going to the library and searching for information from physical books. Since the year 1998, Google is founded and it has a mission to organise the world’s information. We can now easily search on the internet at work with one click of a button on Google. Moving further, automation and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming many industries, and they will continue to do so in the future. Jobs that involve repetitive tasks or require low-level skills are most at risk of being automated, while jobs that require critical thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence will become more valuable. Workers who can adapt and learn new skills will be better positioned to succeed in the changing job market.

Future thinking about ChatGPT is a way of looking at the world that involves planning for and predicting potential future events. It entails considering multiple possibilities, challenging assumptions, and exploring the potential outcomes of various decisions. This skill is becoming more and more important in today’s rapidly changing world. It would be helpful to us in our career and community involvement.

Future thinking about ChatGPT assists people and organizations in foreseeing and preparing for trends and in responding to change. We could develop proactive strategies and be better equipped to react to changes by identifying potential challenges and opportunities using AI technology.

We can have a better understanding of our choices and our prospective effects by taking into account multiple possible future scenarios, thus making wise decisions. This can help us in making decisions that are more in line with our values and long-term goals.

Future thinking about ChatGPT can bring people together to develop a shared vision for the future. Individuals and groups can collaborate to create the future we want by engaging in dialogue and exploring different possibilities. We could find emerging opportunities for development and creativity in our employment and community involvement by keeping an eye on new trends in AI technology.

Overall, thinking about the future of work with ChatGPT, AI could be a useful tool for both professional and personal growth. Using AI as a tool can help people and organizations in navigating a quickly changing environment. AI may be able to replace our boring job eventually, but humans could save time to solve more interesting problems and there will be more new job opportunities for creative jobs that require human involvement.
